As many of us in the industry have known for a while, the current skills shortage is a worry. There are plenty of new grads but most them have not been educated to produce commercial quality work. But the real shortage is is in experienced coders.
Many grad require rapid educating to developing in the real world. And for many businesses in Australia - sadly this not an option. If the government offer tax incentives to employ grads more businesses would consider taking someone under thier wing.
The skill shortage has now hit Google who are searching the US to staff the Sydney office. Full Story (The Australian)
